Earthwork Construction Manager (Highway Construction Project)

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently seeking an Earthwork Construction Manager to join our team on a Highway Construction Project in Los Angeles and San Diego, California.

-Project: various highway projects.

-Estimated Duration: 24 months. In general, when the project ends, we try to place the candidate in other projects to give him/her continuity.

-Summary: responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and government inspectors. It is necessary to have strong experience and knowledge in highway earthworks and all related activities. The Earthwork Construction Manager will ensure compliance with all national and local procedures, regulations, and codes, and will provide progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis.

-Responsibilities:



• Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
• Manage worksites, coordinating activities and ensuring that all work is in sync with project goals and objectives.
• Identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues.
• Adhere to legal regulations, construction and safety codes, and other requirements.
• Preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates.
• Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules.
• Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with engineers, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Representing your company on matters such as business services and union contract negotiations.
• Preparing progress reports and issuing progress schedules to clients.
• Directing the purchase of construction materials and land acquisitions.

-Working hours: Monday to Friday- 40 hours weekly- 9 hours daily (including 1 hour for lunch)- depends on project demands-

-Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience as an Earthwork Construction Manager in highway/road/heavy civil construction projects or similar. Experience in major earthmoving and grading operations.
• Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent.
